Finding Your Look

“Style is a bi-product of your creations, not your end goal. Don’t waste time looking for your style, because you won’t FIND it. The truth is…. you already have it. You just may need to create more in order to see it.” – Promise Tangeman

You need to *create more* to determine your signature aesthetic, and there aren’t many shortcuts along the way.

For me, I followed the work of people whose images I loved. Most of these photographers used Contax 645 cameras with Fuji 400H film. But I learned more than the equipment they were using, I studied how they used light, what the colors looked like, how they posed their subjects, the story they were telling, etc.

This helped direct me into the style that I wanted to produce… it was then just a matter of practice to create more of it!
